8. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter then apply the tincture to aches and pains.

9. Make your own mouthwash by mixing nine tablespoons powered cinnamon with one cup vodka. Seal in an airtight container for two weeks. Strain through a coffee filter then mix with warm water and rinse your mouth. Don’t swallow.

10. Using a q-tip, apply vodka to a cold sore to help it dry out. EW

11. If a blister opens, pour vodka over the raw skin as a local anesthetic that also disinfects the exposed dermis.(OUCH!!)

12. To treat dandruff, mix one cup vodka with two teaspoons crushed rosemary, let sit for two days, strain through a coffee filter and massage into your scalp and let dry.

13. To treat an earache put a few drops of vodka in your ear. Let set for a few minutes. Then drain. The vodka will kill the bacteria that are causing pain in your ear.

14. Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting.

15. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the poison oil from your skin.

Delicious Garlic Knot Recipe- Its Totally Worth The Garlic Breath Afterward!

CREATIVE CHEF CHALLENGE!!!!!

Okay, so I don't know about you but I loveeeee garlic knots! The only problem is that I rarely come across quality Garlic Knots from a store or restaurant anymore! They are always semi hard and dried out; the quality is poor and it is obvious that these garlic knots aren't freshly baked. But I wasn't about to give up the amazing garlic breath aroma after eating a delicious garlic knot, which is why I found a recipe on stumble upon to start baking my own!

Garlic Knots are simple to make, AMAZING when they are home made, and a great challenge for all those rookie chefs out there like me!

The recipe I stumble upon is based on the pizza dough recipe from The Bread Bible, by Rose Levy Beranbaum..... which means this dough is AMAZING!

Garlic Knots
~12-13 knots

* 3/4 cup +1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
* 1/2 teaspoon sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
* 1/2 teaspoon table salt
* 1/3 cup water at room temperature (70 to 90 degrees)
* 5 1/2 teaspoon olive oil, divided
* 4 large cloves garlic, minced
* 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
* 1 packed tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions -

1. Whisk together flour, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Whisk in salt last (preventing direct contact with yeast). Make a well in the center and pour in water. Stir together to moisten the flour, just until dough begins to form, about 20 seconds. The dough will look shaggy and bumpy, not smooth.

2. Pour 4 teaspoons oil in a 2-cup sized bowl or cup (bigger if you are increasing recipe size). Place dough in and turn to coat. Cover tightly and rest on the counter until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

3. Place a rack in the lower third of the oven and preheat to 400 degrees F at least 30 minutes before baking. Meanwhile, stir together 1/2 teaspoon olive oil, garlic, and kosher salt in a large bowl (you’ll see why later). Set aside.

4. When the dough is ready, place it on a board and gently press into a 10″ x 6″ rectangle. There will be left-over oil in the cup/bowl that the dough was rising in. Spread that oil over a baking sheet.

5. Spread half of the garlic mixture across the rectangle dough. Cut into 3/4″ strips (6″ long).

6. Tie any type of knot and lay on baking sheet with about 2″ space in between. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden. Meanwhile, add the remaining teaspoon of olive oil and parsley to the garlic mixture. Stir.

7. When garlic knots are done baking, toss in the garlic and parsley mixture and serve immediately.

Now, excuse me, I have to go buy some mints.

On the beautiful day of May 12th family and friends gathered at Hudson Gardens for my sisters wedding. Creative Chief Challenge #1: Mother Layered Cookie Bars

CREATIVE COOK CHALLENGE #1!

Hey everyone,
So luckily I stumbled upon something delicious, easy and fun for my first attempt actually baking something in the kitchen! It is called the Mother Layered Cookie Bars..........and it was probably the most delicious dessert I have ever had!

I highly recommend everyone to try it!
I didn't burn the kitchen down, so Im sure you'll be okay!
Now here is how you do it:

Layer 1: Sugar Cookie
1 Roll of Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Press sugar cookie dough into bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish that’s been lined foil and sprayed with cooking spray.

Layer 2: Double Chocolate Chip Cookie
(the recipe below makes double what you’ll need for the bars, use extra for cookies)

1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1 1/4 cups cocoa powder (I used Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder)
2 tsps. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Slowly add eggs and vanilla until well combined.
2. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Slowly add to wet ingredients then stir in chips. Layer 1/2 the recipe over sugar cookie layer, pressing gently.

Layer 3: Peanut Butter Cookie
1 Cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 Cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1. Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix until combined. Press over chocolate cookie dough.

Layer 4: Chocolate Chip Cookie
(the recipe below makes double what you’ll need for the bars, use extra for cookies)
2 sticks softened butter
3/4 Cup granulated sugar
3/4 Cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla
2 1/2 Cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 bag chocolate chips
1. Make sure oven is preheated to 350 degrees F. In a stand or electric mixer cream the butter and sugars until well combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined. Place flour, baking soda and salt into a large bolw; mix to combine. Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips. Spoon 1/2 of the dough evenly over peanut butter cookie dough but don’t press, just leave uneven. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until center of dough is cooked mostly through. Edges will be brown. I covered pan with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
2. Let cookies cool completely. Lift out of pan with edges of foil. I cut off 1/2 inch edges and just used softer centers, but do as you wish. Edges are crispier. Drizzle top with 1/2 Cup melted chocolate chips if desired.

*Note: You can layer dough and refrigerate until ready to bake. This is what I did and it worked very nicely.
